Practical training week (TET)
TiNa organized a Practical Training Week for eight-class pupils, who studied at Kilonpuisto upper level of comprehensive school. Eight girls participated in this course. At that time the course lasted two weekdays and it included various visits that lasted half a day at each company. The companies that took part were ABB, EVTEK University of Applied Sciences, Omnia Vocational College and Helsinki University of Technology. When visiting EVTEK University of Applied Sciences, pupils were able to print a poster of their own pictures. At ABB they worked in the physics workshop and visited a factory that manufactures electric machinery. While visiting Omnia Vocational College pupils did electrical installations allowed for non-professionals e.g. an extension cable. At Helsinki University of Technology girls did some minor work related to electricity and magnetism with help from engineering students. They also visited a cottage lab for applied science. Similar course was organized again in April 2006. This course offers a good possibility to familiarize girls with technology. When there is cooperation between schools and companies, it clarifies different career opportunities and therefore, it is not a responsibility of one organization to organize a long lasting programme.
