option for young girls in order to increase the number of women
working in fields of technology – especially in the information
industry.

OBJECTIVE 2
To promote values and standards that are responsive to women’s
needs within the Helsinki University of Technology.
Means
Implementing
the methodology created in the ‘Education and Equality in the
Information Industry – Strength from Women’s Diversity’ project,
e.g. corporate visits designed for women
Encouraging
educational interactivity and interdisciplinary methods as well
as creating guidelines on how to put theory in practice
Creating
a website ‘survival kit’ that provides solutions to study and
career related questions
Facilitating
the selection of course options offered the Department of Electrical
and Communications Engineering
OBJECTIVE 3
To provide female technology students with support and guidance
when starting careers and to improve career opportunities.
Means
Offering
women at the final stage of their studies a preparatory course
that facilitates the transition from studies to work. This course
will be produced with the Helsinki University of Technology Career
Services and The Finnish Association of Graduate Engineers.
Creating a support network for young women starting careers in
male-dominant industries. The pilot company was ABB. The aim is to share
knowledge of women with more
professional experience with younger women and thus promote career
prospects.
